Rosenbauer: Developing the World’s First Electric Fire Truck for a Sustainable Future

Everyone shares the responsibility of making the Earth a safer, cleaner, and healthier place to be. Rosenbauer is the world’s leading manufacturer of firefighting equipment and fire-service vehicles who have pioneered the world’s first electric fire truck. Focusing on safety, ergonomics , technology, and data , Rosenbauer has provided a product which will not only serve the firefighters and first responders of today, but also those of the future.

As more of the fire service becomes dedicated to fighting the effects of climate change, Rosenbauer has committed to making a fire truck which is itself sustainable. The electric fire truck produces almost zero emissions and is made from materials which are fully recyclable at the end of the vehicle’s life. When it comes to practical use the electric fire truck is unique in terms of its low centre of gravity, electric powered drive, and adjustable suspension.

As the technology driving modern electric powered vehicles is improving with every passing year there have been huge increases in the efficiency of an electric drive and in battery capabilities. With these advancements, Rosenbauer has risen to meet the needs of the future and has used its capabilities to improve the world by creating a new generation of fire trucks.

With a revolutionary project which deviates from tradition as the electric fire truck has, Rosenbauer needed a partner which shared its visionary outlook and found it with the Los Angeles Fire Department. The LAFD is on the forefront of tackling brush fires that have been worsened both in terms of scale and numbers by climate change. The year 2020 saw a record number of brush fires in the state of California and doubled the previous record. The LAFD, one of the largest fire departments in the United States, has the infrastructure and resources to test pilot the electric fire truck that smaller departments do not have access to. With the electric fire trucks tight turning, incredible acceleration and fast braking,, it is ideal for a quick response to fires as well as ensuring the safety of the crew during the drive to the scene. The LAFD became the first fire department in the United States of America to purchase the electric fire engine to provide a better level of service for the people who they serve.

Rosenbauer believes electric fire trucks are the future of the fire service, which will l go into service in fire departments around the world and stand behind the product and revolutionary technology behind it. By developing an electric fire truck, Rosenbauer is helping the communities in which they operate and creating a safer future. With safety, ergonomics sustainability, , and digital solutions, at the forefront of their design, Rosenbauer is committed to its mission statement of saving lives and property from fires.

Rosenbauer looks forward to its future endeavors towards electric drive and developing technologies to aid and service both firefighters and the wider society in which they serve.
